In celebration of Filipino Food Month 2025, the Philippine Embassy in Mexico proudly showcased the Philippine culinary heritage through a virtual lecture and Filipino Food Bazaar.
The April episode of the La Historia Olvidada: Filipinas – México 2025, held via Zoom on 25 April 2025, featured Filipino artist, restaurateur, and food writer, Chef Claude Tayag. The lecture centered on his new book, entitled “The Philippines – More Mexican than Spanish: Foodways that Crossed the Pacific,” the origins of Philippine and Mexican cuisines, and their similarities and influences on each other.
Philippine flavors took center stage at the Filipino Food Bazaar held at the Embassy grounds on 27 April 2025. The bazaar featured homemade traditional Filipino dishes, snacks, and desserts, prepared by members of the Filipino community in Mexico.
The Embassy also launched its official Instagram account during the bazaar and held a Filipino food photo contest. This activity aimed to increase the Embassy account’s interactions on Instagram and promote Filipino food on social media.
The Filipino Food Bazaar and launching of the official Instagram account would not be successful without the support of members of the Filipino community and the Embassy’s volunteers who were: Ms. Carolina Jefferson, Ms. Mera Fe Megrinio Banate, Ms. Marjorie Dames, Ms. Angel Agba, Ms. Stephanie Te, Ms. Opalyn Dela Cruz, Mr. Joeffrey E. Viernes, Mr. Ryan Valbuena, Mr. Edgar Buhay, Mr. Justynne Revilla, Mr. Nestor Marcaida, Mr. Manuel Enriquez Gonzalez, Mr. Alejandro Lopez Mena, Mr. Lenin Betanzo, and Mr. Antonio Campos Mejía. END.
