LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA: FILIPINAS Y MEXICO 2025- EPISODE 5
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico, in partnership with the University of the Philippines-Diliman, El Colegio de San Luis, and the Philippine-Mexico Studies Program, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM), invites you to the fifth episode of “LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA: FILIPINAS-MEXICO 2025,” a virtual colloquium series on Philippine-Mexico relations, to be held via Zoom on 20 June 2025 at 6:30-8:00 P.M., Mexico City time (21 June 2025 at 8:30-10:00 A.M., Philippine time).
The resource speaker, Dra. Amalia Ramirez Garayzar, Professor Researcher at the Intercultural Indigenous University of Michoacán, Mexico, will discuss “Philippine and Mexican Textile Weaving Traditions” in English.
This colloquium series, which will be streamed live via Post’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@PHinMexico/streams), aims to highlight pivotal events and contexts that have shaped the engagements between the Philippines and Mexico, spanning from the sixteenth century to the contemporary period.

AMBASSADOR LILYBETH R. DEAPERA MEETS CUBAN FOREIGN MINISTER BRUNO RODRÍGUEZ
Havana, Cuba – Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera, together with Consul Ralf G. Roldan traveled to Havana, Cuba, from 31 May 2025 to 03 June 2025 to attend a series of meetings, including a call on Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
Ambassador Deapera thanked the Minister for the opportunity to meet with him to which Foreign Minister Rodriguez welcomed the Ambassador and considered the Philippines as a "family of the south." Both officials discussed the upcoming 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations and ways to move the relations forward.
The Ambassador also met with members of the Filipino Community and discussed programs for the Filipinos residing in the island state. Specifically, the discussion focused on employment contracts, consular services, and the concerns of the medical students.
A meeting with the Ambassadors of Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Viet Nam and Timor Leste and the Chargé d'affaires of Indonesia that make up the ASEAN Committee in Havana City (ACHC) was also held on 02 June 2025. The discussion allowed the heads of mission to exchange views on current events and discuss the Committee's projects in Cuba. END
