The Philippine Embassy in Mexico joined the introductory meeting organized by the Embassy of Costa Rica in Mexico for Costa Rican Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Alejandro Solano Ortiz, on 22 May 2025. Eleven (11) Mexico-based embassies with concurrent jurisdiction in Costa Rica attended the Meeting.
Ambassador Solano discussed themes and current issues of the Costa Rican foreign policy with respect to multilateralism. He expressed his country's preference for the enlargement of the United Nations Security Council, and stressed the need to reinforce the role of the UN as there seems to be a rising problem of non-compliance with international rules and norms.
