SECOND EPISODE: LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA- FILIPINAS Y MEXICO 2025
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico, in partnership with the University of the Philippines-Diliman, El Colegio de San Luis, and the Philippine-Mexico Studies Program, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) supported by the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, invites you to the second episode of “LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA: FILIPINAS-MEXICO 2025,” a virtual colloquium series on Philippine-Mexico relations, to be held via Zoom on 21 March 2025 at 6:30-8:00 P.M., Mexico City time (22 March 2025 at 8:30-10:00 A.M., Philippine time).
The resource speaker, Ambassador Miguel Ruiz Cabañas Izquierdo, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, will talk on “The Novohispanic Who Negotiated with the Shogun” in English.
This colloquium series which will be streamed live via Post’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@PHinMexico/streams) aims to highlight pivotal events and contexts that have shaped the engagements between the Philippines and Mexico, spanning from the sixteenth century to the contemporary period.

PH EMBASSY AND PHILIPPINE TRADE AND INVESTMENT CENTER PROMOTE FILIPINO CONTEMPORARY ART IN MEXICO
The Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Mexico held a launching reception of the Philippine Art Exhibit on 26 February 2025 at the Sociedad Mexicana de Geografía y Estadistica, A.C., Centro, Ciudad de México.
Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera mentioned in her welcome remarks that the exhibit is a continuation of meaningful cultural exchanges between two nations rich in history, passion, and artistry. She expressed that the artists highlighted in the event have a common goal of sharing the heart and soul of the Filipino experience.
The art exhibit aims to promote Filipino art and its export to Mexico. It features thirty (30) contemporary paintings in oil, watercolor, and mixed media by various Filipino artists.

PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO CHECKS IN WITH DOUBLE DRAGON CORPORATION AND HOTEL 101
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico met with Chairman Edgar Injap Sia II, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the DoubleDragon Corporation.
CEO Injap informed the Embassy of DoubleDragon's expansion plans which include the building and opening of a Hotel101 in Mexico. Hotel101 is a subsidiary company of the DoubleDragon Corporation and positioned to operate in Japan and Spain. The corporation intends to expand the Filipino hotel chain operation in twenty-five (25) countries with projects being finalized in Italy and the Middle-East.
The hotel will have around five hundred (500) rooms and is expected to be one of the biggest hotels in Mexico. In addition, the hotel will also be promoting Filipino culture and hospitality by donning banig designs in all of its rooms and hiring Filipino staff to man the hotel. END
