PH EMBASSY COMMEMORATES THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARRIVAL OF ESCUADRÓN 201 FUERZA AÉREA EXPEDICIONARIA MEXICANA
The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Mexico commemorated the 80th Anniversary of the arrival of Escuadrón 201 Fuerza Aérea Expedicionaria Mexicana (F.A.E.M.) in the Philippines on 30 May 2025 at the Monumento a las Águilas Caídas del Escuadrón 201 F.A.E.M. in the Bosque de Chapultepec in Mexico City.
The ceremony started with the honoring of flags and followed by the remarks from General de División Piloto Aviador de Estado Mayor Óscar René Rubio Sánchez, Commandant of the Mexican Air Force, Minister Fernando González-Saiffe, Director General for Asia Pacific of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Philippine Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera.
Ambassador Deapera, together with the honored guests, offered a flower wreath and a minute of silence was observed by everyone to honor the heroic deeds of the Águilas Aztecas. The singing of the national anthems of both the Philippines and Mexico concluded the ceremony.
About 40 invitees from the diplomatic corps and other government offices in Mexico, the Mexican academe, the Filipino community, and the relatives and descendants of the “Águilas Aztecas”, attended the event.
The Embassy expresses its sincerest gratitude to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Government of Mexico City, and the Office of the Executive Director of the Bosque de Chapultepec for their support and assistance in organizing this momentous event.
PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO JOINS THE INTRODUCTORY MEETING FOR COSTA RICAN VICE MINISTER FOR MULTILATERAL AFFAIRS AMBASSADOR ALEJANDRO SOLANO ORTIZ
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico joined the introductory meeting organized by the Embassy of Costa Rica in Mexico for Costa Rican Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Alejandro Solano Ortiz, on 22 May 2025. Eleven (11) Mexico-based embassies with concurrent jurisdiction in Costa Rica attended the Meeting.
Ambassador Solano discussed themes and current issues of the Costa Rican foreign policy with respect to multilateralism. He expressed his country's preference for the enlargement of the United Nations Security Council, and stressed the need to reinforce the role of the UN as there seems to be a rising problem of non-compliance with international rules and norms. PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO JOINS THE ASEAN COMMITTEE IN MEXICO CITY (ACMC) IN HOSTING AN ASEAN PUBLIC LECTURE AT THE NATIONAL AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico participated in the ASEAN Public Lecture held on 16 May 2025 at the National Autonomous University, Acatlan of Mexico (UNAM). The event was organized by the Embassy of Malaysia as the current ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) chair, and by the UNAM-Faculty of Higher Studies.
The lecture discussed various topics relating to ASEAN and its role in promoting inclusive development, education, labor mobility, and gender equality. With over 300 students in attendance, each member of the ACMC was asked to prepare food for the event. The Philippine Embassy served lumpia shanghai and assorted puto which proved exceptionally popular, being the first to run out during the post-lecture get together.
