PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO MEETS WITH UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA DEL ESTADO DE HIDALGO
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico met with Mr. José Luis Sosa and Ms. Lizeth Flores Molina of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) on 10 March 2025 and welcomed their invitation for the Philippines to be the guest country of honor at the university’s 2026 Feria Universitaria del Libro (FUL), the university’s annual book fair that has been held for thirty-seven (37) years. The 2026 FUL will be from August to September 2026, lasting 10 to 11 days.
The meeting focused on the presentation of the FUL and the activities that the Embassy can conduct during the event.
Mr. Sosa raised that UAEH will give an International Honorary Professorship to one Filipino who has excelled in their area of specialization at an international level. Through this program, UAEH can strengthen ties with universities from other countries and generate academic collaboration networks. This is an opportunity to forge academic cooperation agreements with universities in the Philippines. END.
PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO NODS TO ACADEMIC COOPERATION AGREEMENTS WITH DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico supports academic cooperation agreements as it welcomed Dr. Christian George C. Francisco, PhD, Vice President for Global Engagement and External Relations, and Br. Fernando I. Sanding FSC, Associate Director for Health and Safety of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-Dasmariñas), and Prof. Oscar Sherlo S. Reyes, Director of the Center for External Linkages of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLSU-CSB) on 08 March 2025 at the Chancery.
Dr. Francisco, Br. Sanding and Prof. Reyes shared that DLSU-Dasmariñas and DLSU-CSB are interested in expanding their educational institution partners to Latin and South America and discussed the various programs that their schools offer, such as student exchange programs, double-degree collaborations, and short cultural courses.
The meeting centered on identifying possible partner universities and fields of interest that can be explored, such as hospitality, architecture, and medicine. A goal of the academic cooperation agreement is for the Philippines to be a study destination. END.
PH EMBASSY IN MEXICO PREPARES FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF PH-BELIZE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico met with Chargé d' Affaires Maximiliano Ruiz of the Embassy of Belize in Mexico last 07 March 2025, to discuss the upcoming 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
To commemorate this milestone, both sides are planning several activities including a food bazaar, movie screenings, and university lectures.

SECOND EPISODE: LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA- FILIPINAS Y MEXICO 2025
The Philippine Embassy in Mexico, in partnership with the University of the Philippines-Diliman, El Colegio de San Luis, and the Philippine-Mexico Studies Program, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) supported by the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, invites you to the second episode of “LA HISTORIA OLVIDADA: FILIPINAS-MEXICO 2025,” a virtual colloquium series on Philippine-Mexico relations, to be held via Zoom on 21 March 2025 at 6:30-8:00 P.M., Mexico City time (22 March 2025 at 8:30-10:00 A.M., Philippine time).
The resource speaker, Ambassador Miguel Ruiz Cabañas Izquierdo, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, will talk on “The Novohispanic Who Negotiated with the Shogun” in English.
This colloquium series which will be streamed live via Post’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@PHinMexico/streams) aims to highlight pivotal events and contexts that have shaped the engagements between the Philippines and Mexico, spanning from the sixteenth century to the contemporary period.
